Equipment and Insurance
In addition, we estimate approximately $1000 for books and $175 for medical equipment. All PA students must carry personal health and hospital insurance and are strongly encouraged to carry disability insurance. See more about costs, budgeting, loans, and financial aid at www.med.ufl.edu/oea/finaid.
Rotation Expenses
Students are responsible for their transportation, housing, and living expenses during their clinical year. Expenses will vary, depending on the location of each rotation site.
Students rotating in a location served by an Area Health Education Center (AHEC) usually have their housing provided by the AHEC at no cost to the student.

Financial Aid Application and Deadlines
Since the PA academic year actually begins during the last semester (Summer B) of one University of Florida academic year and continues through the first three semesters of the following University academic year (Fall, Spring, and Summer A), two applications for financial aid during the School of Physician Assistant Studies’ academic year must be submitted in order to cover the full four semesters of the PA academic year. Applicants do not need to wait to be accepted into the School of Physician Assistant Studies before submitting the first of these two applications and are encouraged to apply for financial aid for Summer B as soon as they submit their CASPA application.
The second of the two applications can be submitted any time after January of the year in which students will actually matriculate into the School of Physician Assistant Studies.
Applications can be submitted online by accessing the following website:
Assistance in completing the application or asking questions about financial aid can be obtained by contacting Eileen Parris (see above for contact information).
